Let's get together to share some hints, tips and recipes to keep us going for the holiday season. (Not to mention some encouragement and support to stay focused over what can traditionally be a difficult season)

Learn how to make some terrific treats that will help you manage all those holiday parties. Office party? Holiday Open House? Potluck with friends or relatives? We'll go over some terrific dishes you can bring and share, that everyone else can enjoy too...will you tell them it's low-carb? That'll be up to you! I'll share some cookie recipe options, and other easy desserts you can whip up for company, or for yourself, to stave off those sweet cravings.

I'm suggesting two dates: Monday, Dec. 8th at 5:30, and Thursday, Dec. 11 at 5:30 ...both to take place at a downtown location to be named later. So that's 2 events to RSVP for...please RSVP whether you can make it or not, as your participating in a response lets me know that you're interested in future meetings.

Thanks, as always, for your support, I look forward to seeing you all soon!

Okay, new date...shouldn't be too much conflict downtown once the DNC is over...no Rockies game or anything! Let's meet and swap our favorite recipes...bring yours and I'll copy them all for us and post them on the website! Bring a sample of your favorite dish and the meeting is free...even if you attending the swap on the 19th, join us again and meet more members and get some new hints and tips...

We'll talk about baking, and I'll demo two different pie crusts for tarts, quiches, etc. I'll make a couple of surprises, including my famous muffins, and other sweeties...you will NOT go away hungry!

Thanks all, for your continued support and participation....let's swap some recipes!

I've finally got a copy of the movie I wanted us all to watch, and am planning two movie nights, (complete with snacks), so hopefully, as many of us as possible can make it. You've received two emails, one with each date and a link to RSVP to that date...please respond only to the date you'd like to attend.

The building at 2200 Market Street has a great movie-watching room, with comfy chairs and a big screen, but seats are limited, so please RSVP for your preferred date and time as soon as possible. Bring as many friends as you like, just make sure you RSVP with an accurate count, and change it if your number changes.

I'll be making some low-carb snacks for sale (what's a movie without munchies?) but I want the movie to be free to everyone in our group. It's a terrific Canadian documentary that was shown at a recent national meeting of bariatric physicians, and is a testimony to the power of low-carb, low-glycemic eating.

Here's a synopsis of the film:

MY BIG FAT DIET
A Film By Mary Bissell

Supersize Me meets Northern Exposure in My Big Fat Diet, a documentary about how the Namgis First Nation of Alert Bay takes up a dietary challenge and returns to a traditional style of eating for a year. The rules were simple: eat lots of protein, fat and vegetables; give up sugar, junk food, and starch. Funny, heartfelt and thought-provoking, this account of a small town's battle of the bulge raises questions about everything we ever thought was true about diet.

The film's website: http://www.mybigfatdiet.net

Hope everyone will get a chance to see this groundbreaking film...it's motivational and confirmational for us...documenting the first medical and cultural study of its kind in North America. Please don't hesitate to email me with any questions you may have...see you soon!

It's a new year, and we've all made our resolutions, but how do we maintain that resolve? Let's get together to talk about motivation, and share some tips and recipes! We've got lots of new members to meet in person, as well as "old" members to catch up with. Bring just yourself, and a willingness to meet some great new people, and share your stories of inspiration, frustration, and problem-solving with us all! Bridget will provide some yummy low carb snacks, beverages, and a few surprises for everyone. If anyone's game to go to dinner afterward, we can head to a local low carb friendly restaurant for a bigger bite afterward...

Dessert time again! Join us for a delicious buffet of low carb, (yes LOW CARB), desserts including brownies, tarts, cheesecake, cookies, muffins, etc. and mix and mingle with other members devoted to the Low Carb Lifestyle.

Chef Bridget will demo a recipe that'll WOW the whole family for Thanksgiving, and you'll go home with a whole arsenal of how-to info on baking and making desserts without the unnecessary carbs and sugar. Got a favorite recipe to share? Bring it to the meeting and we'll copy and distribute it for everyone!

See pix from our last dessert meeting in our site's "photos" section for a little peek at what to expect. http://atkinsdiet.meetup.com/173/photos/

***Please take the time to RSVP as early as possible, as we'll need at least 7 members in attendance to make this happen***

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Join us for dinner at Rodizio Grill...what a great low carb-friendly place! Let's meet at 7pm, get a table and enjoy some fine Brazilian barbeque. Our brief discussion will be about sweeteners...I've been getting a lot of questions about natural sweeteners, sugar alcohols, inulin, oligofructose etc. and I think it would be enlightening to have a rousing discussion to talk about a lot of new information and sweetening options for different applications...maybe taste a few in some, let's say, "sweetened" applications! (I can't think of a better excuse to make a batch of low carb brownies...) Please join us if you can, the more the merrier, but mostly, we'd love to meet some of our many new members (and see some "old" ones) in person.

Thought we'd try to do dinner out again, since it holds up well to RSVPs and last minute changes. We've met at BDs Mongolian BBQ before, and it was great, so why mess with a good thing. It would be great to see some new faces, and reconnect with some familiar ones too, so let's make this a special event. BDs is great for low carb...just fill your bowl with buffet-style proteins and veggies, and watch them cook it on the big "skillet". It's low key, a great place to meet, and we can get as large a table as we need. Come share some hints, tips and recipes...join us if you can!
